چکیده

A remotely-piloted Gas Xcell mini-helicopter with GPS, wireless Ethernet, and a machine vision system was flown over orange trees to take overhead images. The individual tree images The authors are solely responsible for the content of this technical presentation. The fruit yield of individual trees at harvest a month later had an r-squared value of 0.373 with the number of orange pixels on the irrigated tree images. While it was demonstrated that a remotely-piloted mini-helicopter could be used to acquire useful overhead images of citrus trees, substantial further research is needed to improve the accuracy of estimates of individual tree yields or health.

Application of Gully and Rill Erosion Indicators for Estimating Soil Loss Using GIS Techniques

The problems of land degradation and soil loss are among the major problems of watersheds in Iran. For erosion andsediment estimation one can use statistical and empirical methods. For doing this, land unit map and the map of effectivefactors should be prepared. For erosion and sediment estimation one can use statistical and empirical methods. However, these empirical methods are usually time co...

Scan Alignment and 3-D Surface Modeling with a Helicopter Platform

This paper describes initial results for a laser-based aerial mapping system. Our approach applies a real-time laser scan matching algorithm to 2-D range data acquired by a remotely controlled helicopter. Results obtain for urban and natural terrain exhibit an unprecedented level of spatial detail in the resulting 3-D maps.

Detection and Counting of On-Tree Citrus Fruit for Crop Yield Estimation

In this paper, we present a technique to estimate citrus fruit yield from the tree images. Manually counting the fruit for yield estimation for marketing and other managerial tasks is time consuming and requires human resources, which do not always come cheap. Different approaches have been used for the said purpose, yet separation of fruit from its background poses challenges, and renders the ...

Design and evaluation of helicopter landing variants for firefighting in Golestan National Park, Northeast of Iran

Helicopter landing sites in proximity to the forest fire-risk zones are necessary for the delivery of supplies and fire emergency response teams. In this paper, we initially prepared forest fire risk map using Random Forest algorithm by overlaying the effective factors on fire occurring including vegetation types, physiographic, climatic and human factors. Then, three variants of natural candid...
